Dr. Arshad B. Pirani

Dr. Pirani has been in private practice serving Maple Ridge since 1977, receiving her Doctor of Dental Medicine degree from the University of British Columbia. Since then Dr. Pirani has taken extensive postgraduate training in Orthodontics, the treatment of Temporomandibular Joint Disorder and Orofacial Pain.

In addition to General Dentistry she is able to treat patients for Snoring and Mild Sleep disorders (sleep apnea), Myofascial Pain Dysfunction and Internal derangements of the Temporomandibular Joints.

Dr. Pirani is a lifelong learner and is a Diplomat of the American Board of Forensic Dentistry, a Fellow of the American Academy of Craniofacial Pain, and is Board Eligible for the International Association for Orthodontics. She also maintains membership to the Canadian Dental Association, the College of Dental Surgeons of British Columbia, the Vancouver & District Dental society, International Association for Orthodontics, American Academy of Forensic Sciences, American Academy of Craniofacial Pain and the Association of Dental Surgeons of British Columbia.

Fellow of the American Academy of Craniofacial Pain

This field deals with orofacial pain, acute or chronic, of non-dental origin. Patients are those who have face, jaw, head or neck pain either due to their dental occlusion, trauma such as whiplash, psychological factors, or postural imbalance causing loss of orthostatic posture and abnormal stress on the masticatory system.

Diplomat and Board Certification from the American College of Forensic Examiners in Medicine and Dentistry

This field involves the connection of dentistry as it pertains to both criminal and civil litigation. Dr. Pirani uses her knowledge to evaluate whether soft tissue injury has resulted in dental symptoms such as whiplash type of injury which causes TMD symptoms.

Board Eligible for the International Association for Orthodontics

Dr. Pirani is trained in the treatment of patients in the primary and mixed dentition to deal with functional problems and airway issues (tongue, lips, swallowing). Her treatment goal is to get orthopedic stability and maximum development of both Maxilla and Mandible and provide ideal arches for permanent teeth. The treatment goal is non-extraction of teeth in crowded cases by achieving orthopedic stability before doing fixed braces. She also treats Sleep Disorders such as snoring and sleep apnea.
